OSHA-NIOSH Small Bus Checklist 1.0

The OSHA-NIOSH Small Business Checklist app aims to support small enterprises in enhancing workplace safety and health standards. As a complimentary resource, it provides a range of checklists and associated materials drawn from the OSHA/NIOSH Small Business Safety and Health Handbook, developed collaboratively by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The application offers several key functionalities:

• Self-assessment checklists designed to assist small businesses in identifying potential hazards across general industry sectors such as manufacturing, retail, and services. Note that these are not tailored for construction environments.
• The ability to select and designate frequently used checklists relevant to specific business operations.
• Options to attach photographs and annotations to checklist items for documentation purposes.
• Access to comprehensive OSHA and NIOSH web resources directly within the checklists.
• A broad array of checklist topics, including safety and health programs, recordkeeping, electrical safety, ergonomics, fire prevention, hazard communication, heat stress management, lockout/tagout procedures, machine guarding, forklift safety, noise control, confined spaces, personal protective equipment (PPE), respiratory protection, workplace violence prevention, and provisions for young workers.

All information recorded within the checklists is stored locally on the device and is not transmitted or collected by OSHA, NIOSH, or any other governmental entity.

Future updates are expected to include features permitting the sharing of checklists among colleagues for collaborative safety management.
